On 7 February 2018, Kiki Setiawan & Partners Law Office was honored to be invited to the Reception of Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Angelino Alfano.

He was on diplomatic mission to discuss some issues, like increase of trading capacity, economic, politic and improvement of Indonesia and Italia bilateral relationship, with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi. Afterwards, he had a meeting with Lim Jock Hoi, the Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

His visit was concluded by a meeting with the Italian and Indonesian business communities at the residence of the Italian Ambassador. This reception was opened by H.E. Angelino Alfano and The Indonesian Minister of Maritime and Fishery, Sri Pudjiastuti, who delivered keynote speech, continued with networking dinner. Some Indonesian former ministries and prominent figures were also present at this reception.

On 31 January - 1 February 2018, Kiki Setiawan & Partners Law Office represented by Kiki Setiawan attended Indonesia – Australia Digital Forum 2017 which was hosted by KOMINFO and Australian Embassy Jakarta.

IADF is actually a follow up action of the meeting between Indonesian President, Joko Widodo and Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull last year to make cooperation in digital economy sector. This forum has three main purposes i.e. to improve and harness digital technology by Indonesia and Australia, do literacy and improve capacity building of digital technology and improve bilateral relationship between two countries.

The two days event presented moderators and panelists with expertise in financial technology (Fintech) and start ups in Indonesia. They are Donald Wihardja (AMVESINDO), Fithri Hadi (OJK), Willix Halim (Bukalapak), Tony Keusgen (Google Indonesia), Tobias Feakin (Australian Ambassador for Cyber Affairs) and many more.

The event was also attended by HE Minster Rudiantara as Minister of Communication and Information Technology of Republic of Indonesia and The Hon Michael Keenan MP as Minister for Human Services and the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Digital Transformation.

Transformational Business Leadership Course Sydney 2017
Kiki Setiawan & Partners Law Office proudly announce that Mr. Setiawan had awarded and taken part in the Transformational Business Leadership, a course for outstanding Alumni of Australian Universities organized by Australian Government – Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade collaborating with the University of Sydney, held in Sydney, Australia.

The course is aimed to identify and further develop the professional skills of outstanding alumni who are emerging leaders to enable them to undertake senior executive or board positions within the private sector in the near future. Before departing to Sydney, the awardees attended the Pre-Award Workshop in Bandung, West Java to share, discuss and develop their projects. The learning experiences from the course was expected to be applied in the project.

The awardees learned theoretical leadership principles and demonstrated practical leadership skills during the sessions through classroom sessions, case studies; site visits; workshops, discussions, and planning sessions; simulations and role plays; networking events; an in-depth individual course project.

Some leadership topics were presented in the course such as organizational communication and influencing, coaching and performance management, leading creativity, cross-cultural leadership and management and leading under pressure and media exercise.

The course invited speakers who are leading experts in leadership and managerial like Prof. Stefan Meisiek, Dr. Helen Parker and Dr. Dan Caprar from the University of Sydney, Jane Counsel the Director of Executive Central Group, Josephine O’Reilly from UNSW Business School.

The learning method of the course are interesting and innovative where the selected participants had dinner discussion on leadership experiences from John Calvin the Managing Partner of Herbert Smith Freehills, field trips to New South Wales (NSW) Parliament and Qantas Head Office in Mascot and site visits to NSW Art Gallery and Victoria Barracks. Further, the networking events organized with some practitioners, lecturers, Australia Indonesia Business Council and Indonesian students to broaden the participants’ network with Australian communities.

Interestingly, the course provided some leisure activities to experience some iconic venues in Sydney like bridge climbing at Sydney Harbor Bridge, sightseeing at the Rocks, Circular Quay, Sydney Opera House including Rocks Market and Museum of Contemporary Art as well as Sydney Aquarium and Zoo. Some awardees also participated in the Sydney Running Festival which attracted more than 30.000 local and international runners. The awardees had Sydney Seafood School thought the participants to cook a signature Morocco dish called Moroccan.

After returning back to Indonesia, the Post-Award workshop was held in Jakarta to evaluate the learning experiences done in Sydney. Some participants shared how the course significantly affect the implementation of the project at their workplace and gave some feedbacks about the course. The committee gave the Certificate of Attainment to each awardee on the closing session.

Conference of Australian and Indonesian Youth CAUSINDY Melbourne 2017
On 11 -14 October 2017, Kiki Setiawan, the Managing Partner of Kiki Setiawan & Partners Law Office, was proud to be part of Indonesian delegates to attend Conference of Australian and Indonesian Youth (CAUSINDY) in Melbourne, Australia.

CAUSINDY is a bilateral youth organization which provides a platform for young leaders to create a stronger bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Australia. The flagship event is a four-day program which brings together 30 young leaders from Australia and Indonesia from various background such as start-up digital entrepreneur, lawyers, journalist, government officials and youngsters working in technology and finance industries.



This year’s CAUSINDY focused on technology and innovation in the bilateral relationship. The conference organized some panel discussions in four different sectors i.e. politics, defense and security, business and technology and innovation. The panel discussions were held at some different venues like Denton Corker Marshall office, Invest Victoria office, Asialink office, Telstra head office and Monash Business School City Campus.

The Deputy Secretary of Trade Victoria, Jay Meek gave introductory remarks and explained about the importance of people-to-people links as the foundation of an effective trade relationship between the two nations. Meanwhile, it was also a good opportunity to hear the view on the challenges and opportunities of the bilateral relationship from Ibu Dewi Wahab, the Consul-General of Indonesia in Melbourne.

Interestingly, highly qualified and experienced speakers in their respective fields were invited to the conference such as John Denton as the CEO of Corrs Chamebrs Wesgarth Law Firm, Andy Zain as the Managing Director of Kejora Ventures, Dr. Dave McRae as Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne’s Asia Institute and many more.

During the conference, the delegates were broken into groups and each group is supervised by a mentor who had been experiences in the past conferences. Each groups should came up with an applicable idea related to the conference theme. All ideas were presented at CAUSINDY Review final presentations. In addition, the delegates visited some junior high schools around Melbourne area to share Indonesian cultures to school kids and to attract them to visit Indonesia. The delegates also did private tour on an iconic football stadium, Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In this conference, Kiki joined the Rinjani Team which consists of four Australians and two Indonesians. Our team unanimously decided to combine all team member ideas to build an apps called ‘HubAsli’. This shall be a platform to connect indigenous from Northern Australia and Eastern Indonesia in some areas such as cultural events and knowledge exchange, marketplace, financial support and legal assistance.
